How do I give feedback on speeches in the Soomo video recorder?

With peer review activities in the Soomo video recorder, you can evaluate your peers’ speeches using comments, markers, or rubrics, depending on the assignment.

When you use comments or markers, the video will automatically pause so you can compose your response. The feedback you provide also includes a timestamp, so your peer knows which moment in the speech you’re referring to as they review your comments.

In the main view of the Soomo video recorder, you can see all the videos you and your classmates have submitted for an activity.

To review a classmates’ speech, select the video you’d like to leave feedback on.

Review the feedback instructions if you’d like, then click Continue.

The video will begin playing in the panel on the left of the video recorder with the feedback panel on the right.

If you’re on a mobile device, you might only see one of the panels at a time. In that case, you may want to pause the video while viewing the feedback panel.

To share written feedback, type your message in the comment field.

To record an audio comment instead, click the microphone icon, select Record, then click Stop when finished.

Once your text or audio comment is ready in the comment field, click the Send icon to post it.

Markers are pre-made labels (like “movement” or “memorable content”) that allow you to give quick feedback as the video plays.

You can post a marker by itself by clicking one of the colored, circular marker buttons located just above the comment field and clicking Send.

If you’d like, you can also add a comment to a marker. Select a marker, type your message in the comment field, and click Send when you’re ready.

You can also provide feedback on a video by using rubrics. Click the clipboard icon in the middle of the Soomo video recorder to open the Rubrics panel.

As you watch the video, select a rating for each of the criteria. When you’re ready, click Post Rubric to submit your rubric, or Save for Later to save it as a draft to complete another time.
