We know that some students require unique assistance. Soomo does not provide alternate formats of our webtexts directly to students, but we’re happy to work with your school to meet your accommodations. To request a PDF or DOCX of the webtext content, follow the steps below.
Contact your school’s office of disabilities or accommodation lead and let them know you need to access the webtext as a PDF or Word document. Be sure to provide them with any specific and relevant information about this need.
The office of disabilities should then contact us at support@soomolearning.com requesting a PDF or Word document of your webtext.
We will verify what is being requested and then begin producing the document.
Once the document is produced, we will send it to the office of disabilities, and they will provide it to you.
Some schools use a different point of contact for these types of accommodation requests. Please let us know if you need help tracking down that school lead.
Once you receive your document, we suggest opening it with the free PDF reader from Adobe or with Microsoft Word, as these applications have the best accessibility features.
Please note: The PDF and Word forms of your webtext will not let you submit answers and will not provide instant feedback like the online interactive version does. We suggest trying to use the webtext before requesting an alternate format so that you can receive the full learning experience. We make every effort to ensure that our online webtexts are accessible and enjoyable to use.
For some tips on how to use your webtext more efficiently with assistive technology, check out our article on using your webtext with a screen reader.
