What’s a passkey?

How to purchase and find the passkey for your webtext

Written by Alyssa

Some courses require a passkey to access the webtext. A passkey is a 13-digit code that starts with the letters WT (for example, WTYZABCDEFG12). If your school uses passkeys, you’ll be prompted to enter one the first time you access your webtext.

A Soomo webtext registration page titled “Enter your passkey” features a text input field and a Redeem button.

Note: Be careful not to confuse your passkey with the book’s ISBN! Both have 13 digits, but an ISBN always starts with the number 9.

Passkey purchase and delivery

Your school bookstore is the only place you can purchase a passkey. Once purchased, the bookstore handles the delivery, which can sometimes take up to 48 hours. Depending on your school’s setup, you will receive your passkey in one of the following ways.

  • Through your LMS or digital bookshelf: delivered directly to your course dashboard or digital library

  • Via email: sent to your email by the bookstore

  • In person or by mail: printed and handed to you at the bookstore counter or sent to you by mail

Passkey support

If you purchased your passkey and haven’t received it yet, please contact your school bookstore. They’ll be able to help with questions about your passkey purchase and delivery.

If you have your passkey but it isn’t working, get in touch with us! We’re happy to help.
