To create your reference list, you’ll turn the source notes you’ve taken throughout the research process into APA Style source listings.
Review and update your sources
First, review your original source notes in the template, adding any new sources you’ve found and removing any you won’t be using. At this point, your notes may only include a few details about each source, such as the author’s name and URL.
Create APA Style references
Now that you’ve updated your list, replace each source note in the template with the source’s APA Style reference, using the information you’ve been keeping track of in your research document.
For example, you’ll start out with brief source notes like the ones below:
To create a complete reference list entry, add details from your research document to those notes and format the information according to APA Style:
Larson, W. (2016, August 24). Filson 101: Wesley Larson’s guide to safety in bear country. The Filson Journal. https://www.filson.com/blog/how-to/bear-safety-wesley-larson/
When you’re finished, your template will contain only your APA Style references.
Make sure that there is a break between each reference and that your references are in alphabetical order by author’s last name.
