How do I update my work using instructor feedback?

Using instructor comments to edit and resubmit your work

Written by Alyssa

Overview and video tutorial

Your instructor may provide feedback on the work you complete in the webtext. Feedback may include comments on your responses, unposted or reset work, or pinned response-board answers.

If your instructor asks you to revise your work, you can review their feedback, make updates, and resubmit your response.

View notifications

When your instructor leaves a comment on your work, you’ll receive a notification in both your webtext’s Notifications panel and via email.

If you have a new notification, you’ll see a red dot in the Notifications panel in the upper-right corner of your webtext. Click Notifications to expand the panel.

The email you receive includes a link to your webtext, where you can check the Notifications panel.

Email with the heading “You have new notifications.” The email body tells the student they have a new notification and includes a direct link to open the webtext.

Review instructor comments

Click on the notification to be taken directly to the specific short-answer question, response board, or writing template where your instructor left feedback.

From there, click View comment to review the feedback you received. The comments your instructor leaves are private and can only be viewed by you and your instructor.

Update and resubmit your work

If your instructor has left you a comment asking you to make changes, you can update your response directly in the question where they left the feedback. Click the Edit button, make your changes, then submit your updated response.

Note that the button you use to submit your response may appear as Post or Add, depending on the activity.

In addition to leaving comments, your instructor may unpost your work if it’s incomplete or doesn’t fully meet the assignment requirements. If your work is unposted, you’ll see your original response in the text box where you can edit it.

After reviewing your instructor’s feedback, make the requested changes and submit your updated work.

If you have any questions about the comments left by your instructor, you should reach out to them directly.
