The highlighting and note-taking tools in your webtext can help you stay organized and focus on key points as you read.

When you select a portion of text, a toolbar will appear with options to highlight the text or add a note.

The highlighting and note-taking menu appears below a selected portion of text. The menu includes three highlighting colors and the Make a Note button.

Highlight

After you’ve selected your desired text, choose a color from the toolbar to highlight it.

If you’d like to change or remove a highlight, click the highlighted text, then select a new color from the toolbar or click the X to remove the highlight.

Take notes

To make a note, select the text and click Make a Note in the toolbar. A note field will appear where you can type your note. You can format your note using bold, italics, underlining, and bullet points.

You can also paste URLs into your notes. If you paste a video URL, it will automatically embed the video, so you can watch the video right inside the note.

Other URLs will show a preview of the webpage or file.

If your note includes an embedded video or link preview, you can use the options menu in the top right corner of the preview to make changes to it. Click Convert to URL to remove the preview but keep the link, or click Delete to remove both the preview and link.

After creating your note, click Save.

Your notes will appear in the right margin of the webtext, marked by a gray note icon. If your instructor shares notes with you, their notes will be marked with a teal shared note icon and labeled with their name.

View your notes

To view all your highlights and notes in one place, open the Tools Menu in the upper right corner of your webtext and select My Notes.

To view your notes in the Soomo app, tap the gear icon to open the Settings menu and then tap My Notes.

On the My Notes page, your highlights and notes are organized by chapter and page. You can expand or collapse chapters using the arrow next to the chapter name. You can also click any page title to revisit that page.

The three-dot menu to the right of the note also lets you return to the page as well as delete highlights and notes.

Notes that your instructor has shared with you will also appear in My Notes. Just like shared notes on a webtext page, they’ll be marked with the teal shared icon labeled with your instructor’s name.

You can also filter your notes using the drop-down menu at the top of the page to view all notes, only your own notes, or only notes your instructor has shared.

Print your notes

If you’d like to print your notes, access the My Notes page from a web browser, like Chrome or Safari. Use your browser’s print option (File > Print) or press Ctrl+P (Windows) or Command-P (Mac) on your keyboard to open your device’s print menu.
