We keep the requirements super basic! Macs, PCs, and Chromebooks will all work fine. (Linux users using supported browsers should have no trouble either.)
In terms of browsers, webtexts work very well with recent versions of Safari, Firefox, Chrome, and Edge. Older browsers may not work as well, so be sure to stay updated. If you find weird things happening with Internet Explorer, let us know (and consider using Chrome or Firefox—they will improve your browsing experience on all sites, not just ours, and are both totally free).
Sometimes, we will link to content that requires a PDF reader or other document viewer. Most computers and up-to-date browsers already have everything installed that you will need.
All videos in our webtexts have a link to a text transcript below them, in case you should experience issues playing or hearing the video. We have kept the internet bandwidth requirements as low as we can. Even still, watching videos on very slow connections can be frustrating, so we recommend faster connections like DSL, cable, or 4G cellular data networks. Shared WiFi often works just fine too.
The app works on Android devices running Android 7 (Nougat) and above, and on iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) running iOS 11.0 or above.
